Bringing Home Baby

Well it's almost been 2 weeks now since Emma came home from the hospital. All I have to say is thank goodness for my mom being there! I don't know how I would've survived with out her help that first week home from the hospital. She cooked, cleaned and took care of Aiden so I could take care of Emma, sleep and get a shower every day. She even found time to make me a gorgeous sling for emma and a nursing cover plus work on several other projects. I truly have a super mom and am so grateful she was here. It was hard to see her go.

Aiden is starting to really warm up to Emma. At the hospital he didn't know what to think of her. He was more interested in laying in her hospital bed than seeing her.

When we introduced them she starting crying and it really upset Aiden and he started crying too! Poor guy.

Now he either calls her "bebe" (baby) or "Emmie" (Emma) and likes to point out all her body parts that he knows; like elbow, eyes, nose and hands. (he's getting really good at saying his body parts) He also loves to make people kiss her. He'll grab your neck and pull you toward Emma while making kissing sounds. Then when you've kissed the baby, he'll kiss her too. My mom and I gave Emma her first bath at home and she was not too happy to be wet!

Poor Kart still had finals to finish up amid the sleepless nights with a new baby but today finished up his last one! Yea!!!

The day before Emma was born I finally finished two paintings I'd been working on for a woman in baltimore. She saw an ad I had on craigslist for my Beatrix Potter paintings and emailed me asking me to do two paintings for her granddaughter. It's my first commissioned job! Very exciting! So I was glad to get them done before the baby came. I sent them to her after I got home from the hospital and she called me when they arrived and said she loved them! Whew! I'm so happy. I think they turned out good; I'm just glad she thought so too.

Well I didn't know if I could do it, but it really hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I get sleep when I can and do my best to make sure aiden gets the attention he needs. I couldn't do it with out Kart's help though. He's been so great about helping as much as he can when he's home. He lets me take naps and helps out with the cleaning and anything else I need. I really appriciate it!

Well that's the latest. Here's some more miscellaneous pictures of us and the kids. Hope you enjoy. I'll try to post more frequently so I don't have to catch up so much next time. (Now that I finally found my USB cord that'll be a lot easier!)
