I survived!

Hey guys. I just wanted to let you know I survived september! It was a crazy month, but with the help of good friends and a supportive husband I was able to finish making my products for the Boutique and am happy to say the Boutique went wonderfully! It was busy, and successful, and every one seemed to enjoy it. Most people said they'd like us to continue doing it. We'll see if we can.

Springville sent some one from the city to say we'd violated some city ordinence by having the boutique. It had something to do with her home business permit only allowing 2-3 people at a time at her home at a time. I wasn't there when she was talking to the city guy who was trying to shut us down, but I think that was the gist of it. Nettie just said "No! We have vendors that have paid to be here and some who have driven long distances to be here. We aren't going to tell them to go home." So he said he'd write us up and left. We never saw him after that, and I don't think she's even heard back from the city since then. If we do it again we'll have to find a loop hole in the city ordinances or there's a store on main street that offered us space we could "legally" hold the boutique. We're hoping we can keep it in Nettie's yard though because that was a big part of the charm of the show. It's such a pretty location. I love how all the vendors were tucked in her back yard among the trees. It almost as magical as my wedding reception that was back there.

Well my products didn't sell too well at the show, but none of the artists really did so that makes me feel a little better. (jewelry people did the best by far!) I'm grateful that being in the show forced me to get product done for my Etsy shop that's been sitting empty for a couple months. For those of you who are unfamiliar, www.etsy.com is a website where you can sell handmade goods. Anyone can have their own "shop" and you can sell your items there for minimal fees. It's a great place to buy gifts. Just a warning though- it can be kind of addicting. There are so many talented people on Etsy; you could "window shop" there forever. If you want to check out my shop it's: www.sweetandsimplestudio.etsy.com. I'm still adding to it as I get new ideas/product ready.

I hope you're all enjoying the change of seasons as much as I am. Bring on the scarves, knit hats, jackets, hot chocolate, the upcoming holidays, and lots of snuggling inside. I'm just glad we survived another summer with out air conditioning in our van! Yesss. (we DO have heat- that's a must) Happy fall!
