Kart's family has a tradition of going out to eat on Halloween (or close to it) in full costume. Usually we go to Los Hermanos, but this year we switched it up a little and ate at Chilis. It's a really fun tradition. One I always look forward to.
This year we decided to do family themed costumes and went with the Cat in the Hat since I have a little "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" running around our apartment all the time. (plus we read the book a lot) It seemed perfect. I didn't know what I should be until I realized my belly is already the shape of a fish bowl! :) So I took a t-shirt I didn't care about and painted a copy of the fish on it. (the black outlines are sharpie, but the rest is acrylic paint) I'm really happy with how it turned out! The picture doesn't really show off the roundness of my belly, but you get the idea. Kart's hat is homemade too- a paper grocery bag, some acrylic paint and lots of tape. It was a last minute idea because I didn't have time to sew one with felt but in the end I actually like it better; plus now I can just throw it away.
Besides dinner tonight, we also enjoyed going to 2 Halloween parties this week- one for our ward (which I helped plan) and one for Kart's work. I'm all Halloweened out now. I didn't even take the kids trick or treating! gasp! Whatever- they didn't even know they were missing out. Next year we may not get away with that though. I hope you had fun; however you spent the holiday. Happy Halloween!

You all look so great! haha... I was looking forward to this post. The Barnett's know how to dress up! Kelby's costume cracks me up! Was he trying to do that in the picture? I love thing 1 and thing 2-and the painting looks perfect on your belly!
ReplyDeleteThanks. :) Kelby was a drunk airline pilot. Don't ask me why! He funny as usual though.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! We're super impressed with all of your creativity. Kelby definitely cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteKelby's the pilot that missed the airport! How creative. I LOVE your family theme costumes. You have such great (and fairly easy) ideas.
