google docs

Have you discovered the joys of Google Documents yet? I knew about them but hadn't really used them for myself before. Let me tell you why it's cool and what I'm using it for.

You can really do all sorts of documents with it. The two things I like the most though are the forms you can create and the word documents. I have Microsoft Word on my computer, but the reason I chose to use Google Documents to create a word document was so I could easily share it and access it anywhere, on any computer, with out emailing it.

I created a christmas list (of stuff me, Kart and the kids all want) and added my mom to the document as someone I wanted to "share" it with. You have 2 options with sharing. The other person can just view it or be allowed to edit it too. I made it so my mom would just view it. So now, instead of just emailing my mom a list once, she can log on to her google account, go to her google documents and our christmas list will be there. If I edit it she'll see any changes I made. I don't have to keep emailing her a new list when ever something changes. I think it's so awesome. So that way I can just keep that as a running gift list and as the kids' interests or needs change I can just update it and she can check it when needed. No more having to ask what the kids want or need for birthdays or christmas. Plus now I have a place to write down gift ideas as they come to me. I can access it through my laptop or phone (which I always have with me) instead of writing my ideas down in a notebook (like I usually do) and forgetting which notebook I wrote it down in or forgetting I even wrote it down at all!

Then, I created a form to find out what people on my christmas list want for christmas. You create all the questions and what kind of form you want those questions to take. You can do check boxes, multiple choice, paragraph box answers, and more...it's totally customizable.

Seriously folks- I'm looking for excuses to create forms now! I love it. You can even pick backgrounds for your form. You email the form to the person and when they fill it out it puts their answers in a spreadsheet for you to refer to! So handy. I'm in love...with google docs!

You should go try it out. I think you'll see what I mean. Good times!
