St. George

In our ward we have some really good friends, the Molyneuxs, that are our duplex neighbors too, and over the last three years living in our ward we've become very close. Well we were playing games one night and came up with this brilliant plan to take a vacation together. Just the 4 of us. No kids! We decided to go to St. George. My in-laws have a time share there that is really nice and has a kitchen in it so we could cook our own food if we wanted. Plus it's semi-close but still feels like you're far from home, and the weather is about 10 degrees warmer! We got the timeshare booked, arranged for our families to take our kids for 4 days (bless them!) and the first week in March we were off!

Best vacation ever. Hands down. We did everything we wanted to do and just had such a fun & relaxing time! It was the first time I have been away from owen more than a few hours, and it was so nice to get such a long break from the kids. It was rejuvenating. Here's some of the highlights....

The very first thing we did was go to the temple.
None of us had been inside the St George temple before, so it was neat to be able to do that together. I think that it's a beautiful temple. The inside is old with beautifully painted murals that reflect the style of the area.

The rest of the trip was hiking, biking, shopping, watching movies and EATING! (and eating well) Here's some of our Zions National Park photos. What a gorgeous place.
Kart thought it would be fun to climb to the top of this mound of ice.
I'm just grateful he didn't die doing it!

I loved the stairs they built in along the hiking trail that looked like they were almost just a part of the land.
Our friends Logan and Hillary.

Standing underneath a waterfall.

Me documenting the beautiful scenery.
There was so much to look at and be amazed by!

This part of the trail was under a waterfall and was super muddy.
Kart, King of the mountain. haha!
This is called the 3 Patriarchs...and Logan.
We mainly ate out but one night we grilled some Steaks, baked some potato wedges and asparagus along with some rolls and salad. It was a feast to say the least! It was an amazing meal. Who needs to eat out when the four of us cook such deliciousness?

One morning we were there the guys went biking on some nearby trails.
Apparently the 3 fingers of death was pretty intense!
Thank goodness they survived. :)

The timeshare where we stayed had a game room so we played some pool and ping pong.
Here's Hillary and Kart with their game faces on!
Everyone but me was good at pool. (I couldn't even hit the EASY shots! Embarrassing.) Hillary did awesome that night though! Since I was even worse at ping pong than I was at pool, Logan gave me a lesson how to improve my pool game while Hillary and Kart played ping pong. After attending the Molyneux School of Pool I improved enough to win us the last game of the night!

Since we were only 2 hours from Vegas where my sister lives she came up to visit me & we all had sushi together. It was really good food but pretty busy and slow service. I've never seen so many tables crammed into a restaurant and every one was full.
Our last morning there we made another feast!
German pancakes with hashbrowns & steak (leftovers) and fruit.
It was delicious! Not that I'd expect any less from us.
We were excited to eat.

Part of the reason for our trip is that we won't have them around much longer.
Logan's going to school to get his phd starting in the fall and they'll be moving.
Just thinking about it makes me very sad. We're going to miss them...a lot!
So we just thought this would be an opportunity that we couldn't pass up because the chance to do something like it again won't be for a long time. Gotta live up the time we have left together. I'm so glad we got to go on this trip. It was so much fun!
I hope we can do another trip like it some day.
