Last Saturday our church held a breakfast and Easter egg hunt. They asked for 12 volunteers to dye and donate a dozen eggs, so we signed up. I figured it'd be a good excuse to dye some eggs with out having to eat them all. The kids had a lot of fun dying eggs and then searching for them (and plastic eggs) at the church activity. Aiden found a lot more than Emma, but I think in the end they both ate about the same amount of candy.

Here's what we did the day we dyed the eggs.
The kids drew egg pictures (emma- left, Aiden- right)

Then I boiled 14 eggs- which worked out perfectly because we broke 2
so in the end we had a perfect dozen.

The kids did pretty well at dipping the eggs all by themselves, but I still helped with a few because I enjoy doing it too.

I love Aiden's little egg guy. Do you see the eyes, hair, legs and arms?

Owen was excited to try an egg.

But he didn't like it too much.

I don't know if I'll dye more with them for the real Easter egg hunt. I would like to do one in our yard this year, since we actually have a big yard. We'll see. Maybe we'll just do plastic ones. Either way I'm excited for Easter sunday. Our family home evening lesson this week was on why we celebrate Easter. I was happy to know that they seem to understand the Easter story. We used a visual aid that Emma had been given at preschool to help teach them about the resurrection, and I think it helped them. At the very least it kept them interested and participating. I'm grateful that they know that Easter is more than just candy.
