Teaching

Last weekend our family went to South Fork Park up Provo Canyon with our friends.
Here's Aiden and I enjoying our picnic lunch in the beautiful weather.
I love his thumbs up. He's so funny!

It's Sunday and the house is silent. That's far from normal when you live with 3 kids that are 5 and under. It's been that way since the kids left this afternoon to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house. They like to have them spend the night about once a month, and it's fun for everyone. They get one-on-one time with the kids and Kart and I get a little break. I love it. Of course I love having my kids with me, but come on- everyone needs a break now and then! Plus a quiet house is so refreshing every once in a while! I just get so much more done.

Like tonight I finally had a big chunk of time (that wasn't late at night!) to sit down and study and ponder what to teach in Relief Society the first week of June. Part of my calling as 2nd counselor in the Relief Society Presidency is that I get to teach every 3rd fast sunday. OH JOY! (did you catch the sarcasm?) Let's just say teaching is not one of my strengths...yet, so it kinda freaks me out! But, I'm really trying to just put my faith in the Lord that he'll get me through it and that he'll help me get across the message he wants shared. What makes it even harder is that I'm not told what to speak on. I've never had to pick my own topic for a talk or lesson before. But I've had 2 months to think and pray about it and I'm happy to report that I finally feel like I've found the right topic! (I'll let you in on what that is after I've taught my lesson.) Now I have a TON of reading and planning to do. I have a tendency to procrastinate things, so I'm really trying to be prepared this time. I want to feel as comfortable up there as possible. I think it'll be good. Well I'm off to get more done.

Need some spiritual uplift? This made me cry today.

  2. You will do great! It can be stressful, but once you start the lesson, it all goes away.

  3. The best thing about teaching RS is the feedback and input you get from the sisters. The experience and knowledge of everyone else in the room put together is always more than your own, so be sure to plan for questions and time for comments. :)

With our quiet YW though... not so much. :D
