Memorial Day and More

Well our Memorial Day wasn't too eventful, but I tried to make the most of it. Here's what we did do. Kart went to work (because they really only take Christmas and Thanksgiving off.), so Aiden and I had some lunch by ourselves while emma napped. (A cut up hamburger and baked beans. he did get fruit too but I have to give it to him after or he'll only eat the fruit!)I was so depressed by the rainy weather. I really wanted to have some outdoor Memorial Day fun. Barbecues and outdoor games and maybe even swimming. That didn't happen!
Instead I baked cookies and aiden helped a little (he can pour things in the bowl). This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe! It's a Martha Stewart recipe of course. She's my go-to baking recipe provider. You should try this recipe. If you can read it!

Mmmm, cookie dough!

Emma woke up so she got to ride in the carrier.

The finished product.
They turned out really good. (Just a tip, in case you try making them- they're alway much better the next day. They're nice and chewy.)

We got so stir crazy I loaded up the kids and we went to the Dinosaur Museum. You've seen pictures of it before but here's some new ones.

Aiden liked running up and down this ramp.

He really liked this dinosaur. He kept waving at it when we walked away from it and saying bye dinosaur (or his version of the word dinosaur)! It was cute.
After the museum we came home and had pizza with Daddy. Then the kids went to bed and Kart and I watched National Treasure (the 2nd one). It turned out to be a pretty good day after all.

The day before, on Sunday, we did do a true memorial day activity by going to the Payson Graveyard with Kart's family. We visited his Grandma Barnett's grave who just passed away this year, and all the other family graves that are there. We also saw the Veteran's memorial they have there that has a fountain and sculptures and names of veterans in the area that died. Then we walked around and looked at all the old pioneer graves. That was neat; to see the old headstones. Some were really beautiful and elaborate, and others were as simple as a stone that read "mother". Some were falling apart so someone later laid them flat in cement so they're surrounded in cement but you can still see the original headstone. I'm glad we got to go do that. I think we'll try to do that every year.

Today my friend Megan and I and our kids went to Thanksgiving Points' Gardens. It was 69 degrees out- a perfect day for a walk. What a beautiful place to take one!Toward the beginning of our walk we found the waterfalls. I love them! They're so beautiful. I wanted to just jump in! :) I think this is my favorite part of the gardens. Later we got to walk on some paths that go behind/above them. That was fun too.

I can't believe it- Megan got Aiden to do a good smile in a picture!! Yea megan!
Aiden and his apple. Yum! The tulips there were gorgeous. All the flowers there were. It's a gardener's and an artist's dream! I want to go back with my paints.
Walking, walking and more walking! This place was way bigger than I expected! I doubt we even saw half of it. Aiden got sick of walking pretty quick.
This was a cool fountain.
Another view of the cool fountain.

This is just one of the paths we walked. Very pretty. Then we came to this neat tree tunnel
that leads to...
...a secret garden!!!
It was so beautiful! And so romantic. It'd be the coolest place to be proposed to in! I want to have a picnic there with kart. That'd be so fun!

Aiden just wanted to get in. (that's what he's asking!)This might be my favorite picture of Emma! What a cute little girl. Just happy to be hanging out in the flower bed!
Aiden and Miley.
I don't know what his problem with her was but he didn't want to be any where near her. We made him anyway. Sorry buddy!

After the regular gardens we went to the Childrens Discovery Gardens. Basically we just went to let the kids run around in the water. (water sprays from the arch and from the ground next to it- the video I took will show it)

Video of fountain fun!

On the way home all the kids passed out from exhaustion. It was past everyone's nap time! I think they had fun though. I definitely want to go back soon!
