The kids and I went to Provo's Crandall Printing Museum on July 3rd to see their Colonial Days celebration. It was free and there was lots to see and do. They had people dressed up in colonial outfits, with different exhibits to look at to teach you about what life was like then.
Aiden in a solider tent.

A girl taught him how to play this game that taught children how to milk a cow. They weren't allowed to milk the cows until they could do this right. You pull on the two strings like you're milking a cow, and it makes the wood doll creep up the strings to the top. It was cute watching aiden try it. He liked it, but needed help.

This guy was talking about guns.

This was the blacksmith. (he really is a blacksmith- he worked for the company here in UT that made the gate for the Nauvoo temple.)

The candlemaker

Mom- look! Bobbin lace! I didn't know they did that in America. I realize they came from Europe, but I didn't realize they brought that craft with them. I've never heard of it being done here.

Pretty bobbins!

Replica of part of the Mayflower II.

Steering the Mayflower.

Playing a colonial game. (get the ball in the cup)

Mama and Aiden in front of the huge Declaration of Independence.

Proof that emma came too!

Demonstrating how the printing of the Book of Mormon worked.

It was so hot that day that we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for a baby pool! Here's a picture of Aidens new pool. Isn't it cute? :) Very small, but that's all I wanted. Perfect size for keeping one active little boy cool!

Not so great for sharing. All three of them DID get in! It looked more like a baby hot tub with the three of them squished in there! But they had fun.

We kicked off our 4th of July with the Provo Freedom Festival Parade in the morning. We found great parking and a good shady spot, and had fun starting what I want to continue as a yearly tradition for our family.

Military Veterans.

Glen Beck! He's on Talk radio (political stuff mostly, but he's pretty funny.). He happens to be Mormon too! I highly recommend going to his Christmas show if he comes to your town. (nothing political- just great, funny personal stories and talks about the true meaning of christmas.) I went to it not knowing who he was and became a fan after seeing his show.

Yea Springville! (I loved the wooden figurine the replicated on the float!)

Orem's float. Yea Orem!

The wedding couple on the Orem Institute float was singing "Going to the temple and we're... gonna get maaaarried!" Very corny- but a cute float.

Hoohoo! I mean- Curious George!

The Utah Flash mascot. (basketball team)

The Utah Flash and Utah Bees (baseball) float.

Goooooo COGARS!

A cool pirate float.

Babar! (I loved Babar as a kid!)

Daddy and the kiddos.

Military Veterans!

Me and Emmie at the parade. :)

This is American Fork High School marching band. They got to be in the Macy's Day Parade last Thanksgiving!

Llamafest!

Maybe it's the Scottish in me, but I L-O-V-E bagpipe music; especially live. So this was one of my favorite parts of the parade!

Just a cool patriotic float.

Willy the Wolverine on a scooter. (UVU's mascot)

It's official, UVSC (utah valley state college) is now UVU (utah valley university)! We're a University! (I say that like I still go there...one day?) I love the new green they're using now. Much happier. The school is looking better and better, and their new humongous library is so awesome!

It's hard to see but on the ship is Nephi and his family, along with the Pilgrims! (only in UT would Nephi be in the 4th of July Parade!! I love it.)

Some guy who wanted some serious attention! (I think he must have run in the 10k that morning.)

The Provo Utah missionaries! There were a TON of them. I didn't know there were so many here.

Make way for Underdog!

After the parade we went swimming at the Scera Pool in Orem and then came home to have an indoor "barbecue". We had chips, beans, hot dogs, and red white and blue cookies. It was all very tasty. After dinner we went to the Barnett's house to do sparklers and hang out the rest of the night. It was a very full and fun 4th!

We wanted to see WALL.E on the fouth of July but it was pretty much sold out except the front row and I refuse to sit there (headache guaranteed!), so we went saturday morning. We really liked it. Pixar did it again! Here's Aiden meeting the stars of the show- WALL.E and Eve.

Here's TWO videos for your enjoyment!
Emma thinks Aiden is so hilarious! And I think Aiden's finally starting to realize it's fun to make her laugh. He's been really great at entertaining her while I cook. I love hearing them laugh- it makes me so happy!
Who needs amusement parks when you have a Daddy?
PS- Sorry the videos have blurry spots! That wasn't intentional. I think Aiden touched the lens and unfortunately I didn't notice for a while.
