Since it's been warm all Aiden wants to do it so go outside! If you ever ask him what he wants to do he'll immediately respond with "owside!" and if he can't go "owside" he falls on the floor in tears! So yesterday I was determined to have a fun day with the kids, which meant we were outside
a lot!
"Owside mommy, owside?"

Our day started with breakfast. Emma loooves her multi-grain Cheerios! Can you tell?

Then after she had her morning nap we went out for a picnic. Aiden loves cars, trucks, trains, airplanes, motorcycles, icecream man trucks...anything to do with transportation he gets excited about. He even goes goes crazy over the garbage truck! He's a boy, what can I say! I love it. So I thought I'd take him somewhere where we could see airplanes up close. The SLC airport's too far, so we tried the Provo Airport, but there really isn't much to see there and zero shade. So we went a little further west to Utah Lake and it was
perfect! Lots of shady spots, a playground, water, AND we could still see the planes flying really low since the airport was so close by. The only bad thing was the mosquitoes. So we had a picnic lunch at the lake. Here's some pictures.
The playground was great, but really hot since most of it was either black or metal. I think that's his first tire swing ride. He loved it. It was always a favorite of mine too as a kid.

Watching aiden swing on the tire.

Our picnic lunch of popcorn, apples, sandwiches, lemonade and the best oatmeal raisin cookies I've ever had! (just off the oatmeal container) It was a pretty yummy picnic. Getting Aiden to eat anything besides popcorn was a challenge though!

My cutie pie. She's always up for smiling for me!

The Mama :)

See the plane? It looks a lot bigger in person for some reason.

Taking a break from eating to play.

Some ducks suddenly appeared on the hill so we went to go chase them.

This white one was really friendly and wasn't afraid to get close to us!

We were only gone for a minute and when we got back I found Emma had discovered the bag of Cherrios! Haha! She really loves "real" food.

More playing on the playground.

He reminds me of a boyscout in this hat.

He kept picking up rocks and bringing them to me.

After our picnic the kids had naps, and then we went to visit Kart at work and bring him normal shoes because he forgot them. He rides his bike to work and has special biking shoes that have metal pieces built in that snap into the pedals, so they're not the most comfortable to walk or work in.

Aiden learning how to use a forklift.

After visiting we went to Max and Cheese (a kid cafe with a play area) to cool off and kill some time. We got a snack to share and aiden played for a while. Then we came home and emma had another nap and Aiden and I hung out outside pretty much the rest of the day in the front yard. We're getting to know the next door neighbor kids- Josh (4) and Danette (3).

They're the cutest little kids! Especially the girl. She's so round and adorable! I though her choice of shoes that day was cute. It was funny hearing her click around on the sidewalks. The icecream man showed up that night (as he does
several times a day
every day here) and the 2 neighbor kids went NUTS! It was pretty hillarious. Jumping and screaming. Aiden was excited too, but not as much as they were. I've never bought anything from the icecream man for him yet, because I know as soon as I do it's over. He'll always want something. Well the other 2 kids were able to convince their dad to buy them something and the next thing I know the little boy, Josh, runs up to us with 2 extra Popsicles! It was so nice of them! So I said "gracias" (one of the few words I know in Spanish), and he says "de nada" and the four of us sat on the steps eating our treats. I felt like a kid again- it was fun. Danette ate some blue raspberry icecream thing with bubble gum in it and then gave one of the pieces of gum to aiden. (which of course he swallowed- which is why he doesn't usually get gum.) It was nice of her to share.

They're sweet to let aiden use their cars and scooter too. They played on those a lot that night and would chase each other and throw grass at each other busting up laughing every time! Who needs to speak the same language?! I think they do know a little english but not much. Josh kept coming up to me and saying stuff that I didn't understand. At first I told him "no entiendo- lo ciento!" (I don't know- I'm sorry!) But he would just repeat himself, so eventually I just started nodding or saying yes! Only once did I understand him when he asked what my baby's name was, my name and aidens name. Then he told me their names. I was happy I at least understood something! It definitely makes me want to brush up on my spanish. I'm so glad that Aiden's making friends. It's fun to have someone for him to play with.
Well that was our fun day. Just a side note, I can make pajama pants! I found this cute monkey fabric with my mom while she was here and decided to attempt making aiden some PJ's out of it. Here's the final result:

I thought I did a pretty great job considering I didn't buy a pattern. I just traced some pajama pants he already had. It was so easy and now I want to make some more! Well hope you all have a great weekend.
PS- I updated my family's UT trip post with more pictures - so go take a second look.
