A Big Change

Emma had a fever on Tuesday and Wednesday so I took her to the doctor just in case there was something more serious going on with her. Turns out she was starting to get an ear infection. That would explain a lot! (not sleeping and lots of fussiness + the fever) But while we were there we found out she hadn't gained one pound since June! I had noticed she seemed to get frustrated a lot sooner lately when she'd eat- like she wasn't getting much. So because of this news I made the decision to switch to formula. She's so little (in the 18th percentile!) so she needs all the calories she can get. I'd actually just discovered a week prior to this doctor visit that she likes soy formula (she HATES regular formula) so it was great to know there's formula she likes right before I needed to make the switch! She seems to be happy about being on formula. She gets excited when she sees me making a bottle like she use to get when she knew I was about to nurse her. I'm so glad! I'm so grateful I got to breastfeed for so long this time. Aiden and I only lasted 2 months, so it was great to have a positive breastfeeding experience with Emma. It can be a good experience and I'll definitely do it again with baby #3. Even though I enjoyed nursing her, I'm really looking forward to other family members getting the chance to bond with her over bottles, and getting to go out for longer periods of time...on dates or anywhere for that matter. (I've really missed the temple!!) So lots to look forward to!
