The video in my last post just addressed a concern I've had recently! I don't remember how it started, but I've recently become concerned about what trials I might face if I become completely dedicated to living the gospel. It seems like the most spiritual people sometimes face some of the biggest trials, and that's been freaking me out. Don't get me wrong, I do try to live the gospel, but I'm not perfect and could be much better. I've just started worrying that if I start trying harder that trials will come. In fact, I know they will, that's how the Lord helps us grow. I recently heard that trials help prepare us for the Celestial Kingdom, and that if we're given trials it's only because the Lord knows we can handle them. If you think about it, that's why His prophets has so many trials. If we look at it that way we should be flattered that the Lord sees that kind of spiritual strength in us!
Well here's where Elder Wirthland's talk comes in. I had completely forgotten about a key point in his talk. He says "The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude."
That's it! We don't have to fear the trials that come, because if we are faithful he will always make it up to us! I'm so grateful for that reminder. I know that with the Lord's help I can over come and endure any trial I'm given. You can't have faith and fear at the same time, right? I just need to have faith.
Laura,
ReplyDeleteThat was a really inspirational post and something I know I needed to be reminded of too! Thanks!

I think about the same thing all the time. Thank goodness for the gospel that puts everything into perspective...
ReplyDeleteI love how open and honest you are in your blogs, and because of that I benefit from reading them. Thanks.
