Principles of Alignment

I've come up with a brilliant business idea (based on something my mom shared with me), which I really hope to share with you soon- I just don't want to jinx it! (It just seems to happen when I share things too early)  But because of it I've been researching lots business related topics lately.  I met a woman named Kim Flynn a couple years ago who is all about helping women in business and I always love watching her videos on how to be a successful mom in business even though I don't have a business yet. Ever since I became a stay at home mom I've been on the look out for ways I can help contribute financially.  I love the idea of having a business that I could balance with being a mom and staying at home.  That seems like a daunting task, which is why I haven't done it yet, but I'd like to.

So I was watching the first video of several she made for a free "Business E-Course for Women" and it was all about bringing your life into alignment. I've really been trying lately to be more centered and "in tune" so I was excited to watch this video.  It was right up my alley.  She talked about the different parts of our life going from most important to least - spiritual (God), self, spouse, children, business, money, and stuff.  And after discussing each she has you make a list of what's working for you in that area, what isn't working, what you can change, what you can add and what you can delete.  It was so interesting to make these lists.  I look at it as a cool twist on the new years resolutions.  It really got me thinking about things and gave me lots to work on but also allowed me to acknowledge my successes in each area. I liked that we didn't just focus on what wasn't working in our life, but that first we look at what DOES work.  We discussed this in church on sunday a couple weeks ago too.  We as women can be hard on ourselves when we aren't doing things perfectly and we need to remember all the good we ARE doing.

Elder Uchtdorf said in this talk,
"..be thankful for all the small successes in your home, your family relationships, your education and livelihood, your Church participation and personal improvement. Like the forget-me-nots, these successes may seem tiny to you and they may go unnoticed by others, but God notices them and they are not small to Him. If you consider success to be only the most perfect rose or dazzling orchid, you may miss some of life’s sweetest experiences."

I made my lists in google docs and plan to look over them again after I've worked on the areas I want to change or add things to.  I'd love to keep revisiting this list and watch my progress.  I'll hopefully add more to the list of things that ARE working and be able to cross things off that aren't working.  I hope you're staying on track with your goals this year.  Goals are great! They keep us moving forward.  I hope we can all get and keep our lives in alignment and keep moving forward; even if it's baby steps.  Happy January!
