Halloween Cookies

I promised the kids we would make and decorate sugar cookies for halloween, so last week we did.  It was always one of my favorite activities as a child, to decorate sugar cookies for different holidays, but especially Christmas and Halloween.  So I want to pass that tradition on to my kids.  They loved doing it and this year they were a lot more creative about it and skilled at frosting the cookies all by themselves! (which I really appreciated because it means they made less of a mess this year.) Owen didn't do too bad either, but I had to help him a little.

Last year for Aiden's kindergarten Halloween party I was in charge of helping the kids make treats.  We made spiders out of oreos and black licorice and I found these awesome sugar eyeball decorations to use for them.  Luckily I bought too many so we had lots of eyes left over to decorate our cookies this year with them! I think they're hilarious. :)  They really made the cookies more cartoon-like.

Emma and Aiden proudly showing off their pumpkin cookies. Pretty awesome.

My sister Natalie joined in and made this cute dinosaur! (which was a cat or a ghost originally) I love it.

Owen was really into it, and emma adding another finished one to our tray of cookies to give away.

 My pumpkin.
(Because I've gotta get in on the decorating action too. I still love it!)

Aiden's skeleton head is so cute.  He loves skeletons.  Owen was trying his best to frost and decorate with sprinkles.  I thought he did pretty good!

The kids checking out their beautiful creations, and anxious to eat some!

Here they are! These are all the ones we gave away.  The kids were each allowed 5 to keep for themselves, but I couldn't have the leftovers in the house or I'd be too tempted to eat them! So we made 3 plates and gave them away.  I let the kids pick whose houses we went to and they enjoyed taking them around with me. All in all, a great success!

  2. So much fun! I need to do this with my kids since they love making cookies as well. I love the concentration on Owen's face. So glad he did well with it.
