I'm still around! I just have lots going on, so blogging is low on my to do list. Here's what we've been up to lately....
-I've been baking a lot the last couple weeks. I've been watching Cupcake Wars on Hulu and it's been really making me want to bake cupcakes again. So far I've made snickers cupcakes, a snickers cake (for Kart's 34th birthday last week), and oreo cupcakes. All have been a learning experience and very delicious! I need to get away from the chocolate cupcakes though. I think next on the list will be a fall inspired cupcake. (pumpkin spice maybe?)
-I've been crocheting again, and I'm loving it. I've really missed needlework. It's been put on the back burner for a while since I've been so busy, but I'm glad I'm finally making time for it again. It's a fun thing to do while I veg and watch TV. And then I feel productive! So if you're getting a christmas or baby gift from me there's a good chance it will be knit or crocheted. :)
-Aiden's been busy at school and figuring out how to help him get homework done and make dinner every night, with out the other kids (mostly owen) getting into trouble, has proved to be tricky. I'm working on it though.
-I launched a photography business last month and it's kept me busy! Every year I have requests from friends or family to photograph them or their family, so I thought maybe it was time I actually pursued it as a business instead of fighting it. So if you need pictures done, I'm available for hire! (Blog- www.laurabarnett.blogspot.com, Facebook- www.facebook.com/LauraBarnettPhotography) If you haven't already- please "like" my Facebook page! Thanks. :) I've had the chance to do newborn, maternity and family photoshoots and I'll be shooting a wedding at the end of the month! It's been great. Actually the newborn photoshoots are one reason I've broken out the crochet needle again. I need baby hats for props! It's a great excuse to crochet again. I'm grateful.
-Owen's been really interested in potty training, and although I bought him underwear and we've let him use the toilet many times, we haven't officially started yet. I'm waiting for a moment when I can give him my full attention all day. Maybe when my mom comes to town this month. (if that's okay with you mom!) I'm glad he wants to do it. I think he'll be faster to train than the other kids were.
-We went camping for the first time this year. It was our ward's camp out. It wasn't well attended, but it was a lot of fun! The only hard part about camping it the sleeping part. It's freeeezing and uncomfortable, but we survived. The kids slept great, except when owen woke up and puked. Oops! Luckily Kart was able to keep it contained on the floor of the tent, and not all over the sleeping bags. (He and Kart were sharing a sleeping bag.) And it only happened once, which I was grateful for. The people that did come were mostly all friends of ours and Kart and I had a great time staying up late chatting around the fire with them. Then the next morning the men cooked us a great breakfast. If we're still in the ward next summer I'm looking forward to going again.
Kart and I both are in desperate need of new glasses. His broke and mine are about 8 years old!! So we tried going to glasses stores and didn't have much luck, or they were way over priced. So we turned to the internet and discovered several great websites that had really stylish frames for under $100, and you can order up to about 6 pairs to be sent to your home for free to try on! It was so fun to pick the frames I want to try on. I ordered from 3 different sites and I'm looking forward to getting them in the mail soon. I really hope one of them work out. I have a problem with loving a pair of glasses, but then they don't look good on my face. So I'm anxious to try them on and find a pair that look good on me! I'll definitely post a picture of the ones I pick!
Well I'm sure there's probably more I could update you on, but I have GOT to get to bed, so I'm going to sign out and say goodnight for now. Catch you later. I promise pictures next time! I have some camping pictures to post.
